About Melissa Meyer, DNP, PMHNP
Melissa Meyer is a Doctor of Nursing Practice and board-certified Pediatric Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in Phoenix, AZ. In her role with District Medical Group and Valleywise Behavioral Health Centers, she provides compassionate psychiatric care for children—blending clinical expertise, telehealth access, and creative emotional tools to support young, neurodiverse, and sensitive minds.
Beyond her child-focused work, Melissa is a rare disease advocate and public speaker. Diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, she has testified before the Arizona legislature and promotes awareness through her writing and advocacy. As a clinical instructor at Arizona State University, she trains the next generation of pediatric providers—sharing her philosophy that mental health care is most effective when imaginative, collaborative, and rooted in emotional safety.
Whether she’s guiding a child through unicorn breaths or supporting parents with mindful micro-practices, Melissa’s approach wonderfully blends evidence-based care with empathetic play. Her sessions reflect Hazelwood’s values: trusting relationships, gentle structure, and a heartfelt belief that every child’s voice and sparkle deserve to be heard.
